    We are seeking a talented, motivated and highly experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to join our fantastic Electrical Engineering department in performing radio frequency (RF) engineering development. You will be responsible to develop and integrate RF technologies (radios, antennas) across our portfolio of products. You will have significant impact to our wireless technology adoption.


    You will become part of a small group of highly experienced EE’s working together to test, diagnose and provide solutions to product design teams in order connect our robots to user’s homes, smart devices, and robot accessories.

    Essential Functions/ Job Duties

    • Perform technical analysis and down-selection of radio chipsets and modules
       - Characterize and benchmark competitive radio solutions.
    • Perform antenna simulation and tuning using ANSYS HFSS
    • Work with our in-house EMC facilities and engineers to measure and optimize antenna and antenna radiation patterns
    • Perform antenna measurements (S11, radiation, efficiency) using in-house and 3rd-party chambers.
    • Develop radio calibration and test methodologies
    • Maintain relationships and collaborate with major semiconductor players in the consumer RF marketspace.
    • Setup and measure Radio performance at the
      - Component-level
      - PCBA-level (to evaluate any potential local issues prior to system integration)
      - Product-level (from prototype to production versions)


    • Hands-on experience with Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs), Spectrum Analyzers, Arbitrary Waveform generators (AWGs), and radiation pattern measurement solutions.
    • Ability to configure and control radios using software interfaces
    • Strong aptitude in understanding, evaluating and debugging RF related issues
    • Ability to modify test setups and methods to accommodate incomplete systems, or prototypes requiring external cabling not normally part of the system
    • Interpret test results based on non-standard test conditions
    • Identify root causes of any issues encountered
    • Provide technical analysis as necessary
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • BSEE and 8+ years of relevant experience, OR
    • MSEE and 6+ years of relevant experience


    • Subsystem-level consumer radio design experience using RFICs, SAWs, diplexers, LNAs, etc.
    • Familiarity with common worldwide industrial/commercial standards and test methods pertaining to intentional radiators (radios):
      • FCC CFR 47 Part 15, Subpart C
      • FCC CFR 47 Part 15, Subpart E
      • ETSI EN 300 328
      • ETSI EN 300 440
      • ETSI EN 301 489
      • IC RSS-102
      • IC RSS-247
    • Working knowledge of IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth/BLE standards pertaining to RF emissions, modulations, and Physical-layer characteristics
    • Comfort with Linux command line and wireless utilities (iw, ifconfig, iwpriv, BASH scripting)
    • Experience with circuit simulation tools (SPICE, Hyperlynx, etc.)
    • Altium Designer skills
    • Experience with robotic systems
