  • Summary

    iRobot is in search of an Operations Cost Analyst.  The Cost Analyst is responsible for managing Cost of Goods (COGS) from component through Finished Goods level working in collaboration with Engineering in developing the cost model at a module level leading up to a full Robot and our Far East costing team to assess and negotiate with the Contract Manufacturing organizations.  This will include analysis at a component and system level with consideration for supply chain and in collaboration with the design engineering team.  This position will lead and develop opportunities for improved cost visibility in the early phases of the product life cycle. The Cost analyst will be responsible for ensuring that the Engineering, Advanced Development and Business Unit groups are able to accurately design for Cost.

     

    This is an exciting, dynamic role in which you will work across all the departments in iRobot and be looked to as an expert to assess design to cost efforts and recommend approaches to achieve cost targets. 

     

    An ideal candidate will have a technical and/or business degree, and experience in Operations cost and financial analysis.   Strong business acumen is a must as you will be expected to establish a COGS roadmap that is in alignment with the Business goals.

     

    Essential Functions/ Job Duties

    Cost Management Functions

    • Will manage COGs at a SKU, Component level and provide analysis to drive profitability
    • Collaborate with Strategic sourcing to identify cost optimized options working along with Engineering
    • Lead and coordinate the Cost negotiation efforts for iRobot with CM
    • Lead discussions with engineering to review the costed BOM and drive DTC (design to cost effort)
    • Maintain cost of components and modules in WPA and Windchill (tools) and keep it up to date
    • Develop / maintain Component/ Assembly Cost Master tool, utilize and develop existing tools
    • Track and maintain a complete listing of all pricing for each Manufacturing site, and Product Line
    • Partner with Manufacturing team to develop Cost road map, and lead the cost reduction initiative with in-depth analysis by component and alternatives and also propose these alternatives to Product management and Program team during the development phase of the product
    • Coordinate and support periodic pricing reviews for all programs with CM providers
    • Provide leadership guidance around cost and price control and drive cost alignment across iRobot Products
    • Manage all material cost changes, and assure all changes are implemented per appropriate effectivity time frames
    • Assure all iRobot costs are reflected in all Factory / CM pricing
    • Track/report quarterly cost reductions - forecasted and actual / Track historical and future cost structures
    • Manage pricing issues with FE costing team and timing of pricing implementation with Finance for forecasting
    • Develop and distribute Cost Management reports sharing current / projected costs, performance by Product line to plan, and current issues
    • Develop NPI cost models and Provide cost analysis results to assist senior management in decision making

    Qualifications

    • 3-5 years industry experience with costing and product cost development and analysis within manufacturing/operations organization in support of electronic and electromechanical products
    • Experience in a financial role in an outsourced Manufacturing environment
    • Detailed working knowledge and experience with cross functional teams and Global teams with different time zones
    • Must possess strong knowledge of New Product Introduction and Product Lifecycle processes
    • Must possess effective communication skills, and strong financial acumen
    • Experience working with multiple leaders, management teams and CM providers
    • Business/ Financial /Technical undergraduate degree with financial training. MBA preferred
