  • Summary

    iRobot is seeking a Senior Demand Planner to work within the Japan's region.  This position will own the Demand Planning processes for the region, and will work collaboratively with other departments and functions to establish and lead the regional S&OP processes.  Assist the Global S&OP lead with the local process design, execution and facilitation of the monthly Sales and Operations Planning activities, process, and data.  Responsible for development of an accurate SKU level demand plan forecast (sell in) for all products, collaborating with the Sales team to understand sell thru at the customer level and ensure customer level plans are represented appropriately in the final demand plan.  Develop clear and concise business reporting.  Collaborate with global and regional functions to establish SKU level safety stock targets, using forecast accuracy and lead time constraints to manage the target.  This position will manage all Demand and Supply KPI’s for the region, ensuring the proper KPI’s are represented in the appropriate S&OP meetings.  The Demand Planning Expert will manage the Global Planning tool for the region, ensuring consistency and accuracy of the data.  Recommend areas for improvement and advancement.

    Essential Functions/ Job Duties

    • Facilitate the development of Sales Forecast working with Account Managers. Analyze and assess their sales forecast considering sell-thru trend, promotional campaign and channel inventory to achieve forecast accuracy target.
    • Lead the overall effort to create and maintain accurate Family and SKU unit forecasts for all iRobot products for Japan, highlighting risks and opportunities to the business and working collaboratively to implement any forecast changes through the appropriate channel.
    • Develop, maintain, and deliver clear and concise monthly business communication which conveys the most relevant business information to many different levels of the organization
    • Assess and improve on the current forecasting process including collection of inputs, identification of new sources of relevant information, forecast model selection and testing, and demand planning reporting
    • Assist Supply Planning with establishing regional safety stock and inventory targets to be used as part of the overall S&OP process. Ensure targets are sufficient to ensure a proper balance between inventory levels and proper customer service
    • Become the Super User of the Demand and Supply Planning tool for Japan. Ensure tool is kept relevant and communicate areas of improvement to the Global team. Work collaboratively with the Sales Forecasting Manager to prioritize enhancements for the region.

    • Lead the establishment and execution of the regional S&OP processes. Ensure the local and regional S&OP processes are consistent with corporate requirements, and continue to evolve to add value to the business.
    • Coordinate all facts of the regional S&OP process to ensure consistency, standardization, collaboration, and organizational alignment towards regional and global business objectives. Work cross-functionally to drive the S&OP processes for the region, document risks and opportunities for inclusion in the global S&OP process.
    • Create and maintain critical Demand and Supply KPI’s for the region in line with global standards. Develop root cause analysis to determine specific areas of concern, and use metrics to drive improvements going forward.
    • Ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed


    • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, MBA a plus
    • More than 5 years experience in supply chain management, demand planning or supply planning, Sales related experience a plus
    • Working experience with Sales & Operations Planning process, steps, outputs, and benefits
    • Experience with predictive analytics and with demand planning software, implementation experience a plus
    • Understanding of advanced supply chain concepts and their financial impact (inventory turns, cash flow and working capital) required
    • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to manipulate and summarize data in a clear and concise manner
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required for interacting at all levels within the organization
    • Detail oriented with the ability to work independently in a proactive and anticipatory manner, with the ability to translate direction to lower level execution
    • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, assign effective priorities to tasks and to operate with a certain level of autonomy is needed
    • Ability to exercise high degree of professionalism
    • Some Travel Required, internationally at times
