Summary

iRobot’s Information Technology department is looking for a fun, energetic, driven, and highly organized addition to their PMO team.   This individual will have a dual-role - that of both a Project Manager and Portfolio Manager for Enterprise IT. To complete this, it will require someone to split their time between (a) managing one or more shorter duration IT projects, (b) administering the department’s online PPM platform (Atlassian), and (c) facilitating and supporting the overall portfolio management process for the department. 

 

 

Essential Functions/ Job Duties

The role reports to the Director, PMO within our department who serves both IT and Enterprise PMO responsibilities. This role offers a growth opportunity for project managers looking to expand their responsibilities by not only doing delivery work, but also be a key resource gaining significant experience with advanced PPM tools and IT portfolio planning and management best practices.    This role will frequently interact with senior IT & business leaders to prepare for portfolio related meetings, assist with the IT department’s operating and budgeting processes, and manage critical portfolio communications.

  • Directly manage one or more IT projects from initiation through delivery at a time, based on portfolio assignment
  • Support the Director, PMO with ongoing portfolio planning and management coordination tasks such as monitoring the request queue, preparing project estimates, collecting leadership priorities, scheduling meetings, and assisting with the IT Portfolio Alignment activities, facilitating AOP demand inputs
  • Manage and administer iRobot’s web-based Atlassian PPM Platform.  Could include, but is not limited to:
    • Production support and ticket management, data administration, report creation, vendor relationship coordination, license coordination, and end-user training
  • Gather relevant project metrics from disparate reporting data repositories (Atlassian, MS Project, Time Capture Applications, Smart Sheets, etc.) and draft reports such as weekly status reports, presentation decks, backlog reports, delivery schedules, etc.
  • Create and manage IT department, portfolio, and project collaboration and communication methods (Atlassian, SharePoint, Newsletters, Submission Forms, etc.)  to support idea submission, status communications, general department updates, template distribution, and employee feedback
  • Work with department managers, project managers, and individual contributors to ensure all project and resource metrics are accurate and on time
  • Liaise with resource managers and leadership across the organization to capture and forecast IT demand and capacity
  • Work with IT management team to coordinate technical releases

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least eight (8) years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Well organized with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously 
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing 
  • Must be able to interface effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization, including Sr. Leadership  
  • PMP certification and/or PMI training a plus, but not required
  • Permanent Resident or US Citizenship required
  • Experience managing IT projects and initiatives involving 10 or less team members across multiple disciplines
  • Experience using and administering web-based PPM applications, with Atlassian suite being preferred
  • A solid understanding of core project and portfolio management principles
  • Experience creating complex reports using Excel or a similar reporting tool
  • Experience supporting a production application for a diverse user population
  • Excellent people skills and a fun, yet professional social presence
