This is an opportunity for a full stack web development manager to join iRobot’s Digital team within the Global Marketing team. Managing internal and external resources across multiple disciplines this position enables iRobot to deliver breakthrough experiences across owned digital properties around the world. This position leads iRobot’s marketing technology as a key liaison between Engineering, Sales, Marketing and IT partnering to lead and develop the consumer digital experience for iRobot’s eCommerce, Websites, HOME App and Data initiatives.


At the core of this position is the need to design, build, refine and maintain owned digital properties to serve as a strong demand-generating platform across the world, but the DevOps practice is also a key cross-functional partner. The ideal candidate’s skill set and diverse background in marketing technology will transcend ‘website’ DevOps to serve all internal partners.


This is a technical management position strategically placed within a business unit. A successful candidate will:

  • In the first 30 days, solidify an understanding of the key resources within the practice while becoming familiar with the current sprint planning and development process.
  • After 60 days, have an assessment and vision for an efficient and optimized DevOps team to deliver the current workload and burn down the backlog.
  • Following 6 months of leadership, demonstrate critical velocity to meet the tempo of the business.

Essential Functions/ Job Duties

  • Oversee interdisciplinary design, development and QA resources of SDLC within iRobot’s sprint planning framework managed by the Digital Portfolio team. Primarily focused on two business charters:
    • Global eCommerce platform (multilingual, multitender, multicurrency
    • Global brochure brand platform with localized content in 30+ countries
  • As the subject matter expert for web development technologies and programming techniques, manage the integrations of marketing technology systems across content delivery, analytics, testing and commerce. This position leads the team chartered as, both, the principle analyst for debugging current work and principle architect for new work.
  • Establish and manage governance principles for DevOps team, Corporate Communications (Domains), IT services (Security, Infrastructure), and eCommerce teams defining roles and responsibilities for all levels of digital design and production upstream and downstream workflows.
  • Synthesize inputs from business colleagues around the world via JIRA to estimate and scope projects within active sprints and backlog. Build an accurate roadmap to incrementally address technical debt while maintaining iterative feature releases.
  • Mentor internal web development resources: front-end, back end and quality assurance; responsible for staying current on best practices and enhancements in the web development industry.
  • Guide and implement unified front and back end architectures to promote code re-usability across all of iRobot’s digital properties.
  • Maintain exceptional cross-functional relationships with Portfolio Management, IT, Engineering, and other back-end partners.
  • Own and manage strategic vendor relationships including:
    • Resource trending and analysis
    • Vendor scorecard and business reviews
    • Budget and planning.
  • Manage the department budget and forecasted expenses for vendors and agencies.


  • 7+ years of experience of web development or marketing technology experience across multiple disciplines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Strong leadership, communication and collaboration skills with track record of taking solution ownership.
  • Capable of operating independently and without direction, yet has the awareness to identify situations where additional guidance or support is needed
  • Strong understanding of digital business landscape
  • Ability to work collaboratively across the organization; interpret user requirements and identify root cause and solutions. Must be a good listener.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a sprint driven environment
  • Experience with version and source code repository tools (GitHub, Bit Bucket) and collaboration tools (Confluence, JIRA)
  • Demonstrated understanding of work management, system administration and critical thinking with focus on configuring long-term, strategic solutions. Thinks holistically designing for near term with long term in mind.
  • Extremely organized with thoughtful approach towards system usage and organization
  • Experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud and/or Sitecore preferred.
  • Demonstrated abilities to work under tight deadlines and managing/working with cross-functional teams.
