We are looking for a Director of Global IT Infrastructure to be a key member of the IT Leadership Team.  We seek a dynamic leader that defines fun as working on difficult challenges with intelligent people in a collaborative fashion.  This is an important position to the organization as this person will establish leadership and strategic direction for iRobot’s global Infrastructure and help craft the overall IT strategy for iRobot.  The director leads an international team focused on IT networking and communication services, enterprise cloud infrastructure, server and storage technologies, infrastructure application services, workstations, monitoring, datacenter facilities and international service/help desk.

The Director of IT Infrastructure is someone who has timely, in depth knowledge of evolving infrastructure technologies. To be a successful Director of IT Infrastructure, you not only are great at defining a vision, but you are equally great at executing on that vision.  Implementation will mean getting your hands dirty with systems and policies, communicating with internal departments on changes, mentoring staff, completing projects against a roadmap, leveraging outside consultants, and building a strong team and infrastructure capabilities for iRobot.

This position is located in Bedford, MA. 

Essential Functions/ Job Duties

  • Champions, leads and supports strategies and plans to deploy global infrastructure, enterprise architecture and technology selections that are closely integrated with iRobot’s applications and utilities ensuring they meet availability, scalability, and business continuity goals.
  • Collaborates with IT leadership and business leaders to ensure that technology, policies, standards, and tools effectively support the achievement of strategic business goals and portfolio criteria.
  • Is on the cusp of emerging technology developments and identifies opportunities for improvement. Leads the introduction of new technologies to the organization.
  • Provides technical guidance, leadership, and management oversight across the enterprise for major enterprise infrastructure projects that vary in scope and complexity. Provides consultation on the impact to business and product teams as well as core and non-core applications.
  • Develops global enterprise infrastructure technology standards, governance policies, technical system documentation, standard operating procedures and ensures that all program and project activities adhere to iRobot architectural standards and practices.
  • Lead, plans and executes the evaluation and selection of outsourced solutions including: requirements gathering, capacity planning and cost-benefit analysis, leading the RFQ process, vendor evaluation, and contract negotiation of and negotiation with third party suppliers. Builds and maintains the supplier relationship and manages their performance to the satisfaction of users.
  • Establishes and manages budgets for the group and specific project/program initiatives.
  • Establishes and manages resource planning, allocation and deployment process that enables efficient and effective utilization of global internal and external resources.
  • Establishes IT-wide KPIs, metrics, and a reporting/review process to ensure continuous improvement of enterprise infrastructure performance and initiatives.
  • May manage development, support and administration of assigned enterprise applications.
  • Own the transformation of cloud infrastructure and cloud brokerage services (EC2, Azure, Google)
  • Own and maintain the Microsoft relationship, technologies and transformation.



  • Multiple years of full-time work experience in IT infrastructure management demonstrating progressive, global leadership experience in information technology.
  • Ability to lead, influence, coach and develop an outstanding team. Provide opportunity for personal development of the team, demonstrate the ability to build trust, deal with conflict and deliver results
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence, collaborate, lead team and partners through change, and deliver results and who is able to communicate infrastructure-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff
  • Advanced technical knowledge of technology infrastructure, including cloud and support of applications development
  • Absolutely trustworthy with high standards of personal integrity (demonstrated by an unblemished career history, complete lack of criminal convictions etc.), and willing to undergo vetting and/or personality assessments to verify this if necessary
  • Demonstrated focus on meeting business partner expectations and work with a customer service mindset
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present to senior management; ability to communicate infrastructure and applications architecture strategy at all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency with process and project management methodologies, tools and processes
  • Ability to work collaboratively across and outside the organization: interpret user requirements, identify the root cause, research possible solutions, identify most feasible solutions
  • Must be able to work creatively, calmly, flexibly and under tight deadlines in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting/multiple demands and opportunities
  • Proven track record in building, sustaining and navigating stakeholder relationships in and outside the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate small group and executive level discussions on architectural direction
  • Management of compliance related activities
  • Expertise with IT infrastructure components including the following:
  • Cloud/Saas/Iaas Architecture
  • Unified Messaging
  • Microsoft Productivity Tools (365, OneDrive, Lync, Exchange, etc…)
  • Services Oriented Architectures (SOA)
  • Web Services
  • Application integration backbones or enterprise service bus integration
  • Networks: WAN/LAN/Internet Integration, Management and Monitoring
  • Business Continuity and Technology Recovery
  • Application Virtualization such as Citrix XenApp
  • Active Directory
  • Storage Management
  • Data Center Planning & Management
  • IP Telephony
  • Mobile Device Management
  • Approximately 15% travel required.
