Summary

The Corporate Development Manager is an integral member of a small team of professionals who work closely with Senior leadership.  The person in this role will focus on driving growth for iRobot through exploration of new markets, M&A, partnerships and strategic alliances as well as general strategy development.  They will do this in a team-based setting, and through rigorous fact-based analysis while ensuring alignment with iRobot’s growth strategy.  This will include working in close coordination with the commercial business focused on current market areas, as well as Senior leadership focused on new market areas.  They will assume responsibility for significant portions of project scope, and be engaged in all aspects of projects and deals from initial identification to execution. 

Essential Functions/ Job Duties

  • Execute strategy development project that translate vision into actionable initiatives
  • Execute rigorous fact-based analysis and synthesize insights into actionable strategic recommendations
  • Execute M&A and partnership initiatives
  • Develop comprehensive investment cases for both organic and inorganic investments leveraging both external (e.g., bankers, consultants) and internal resources (e.g., finance, operations)
  • Execute selected global market research including competitive intelligence & analysis to support and drive strategic decision making
  • Actively monitor market dynamics, including customer and competitive developments
  • Support the development of a long-term strategic plan which reflects customer & market inputs, iRobot capabilities, and the competitive environment
  • Drive development of integrated market / product / technology roadmaps
  • Drive periodic company-wide investment portfolio reviews
  • Proactively engage with key internal constituents to promote close collaboration and alignment

Qualifications

 

  • 3 – 5 years of professional experience with some in consumer products and markets
  • Experience with strategy development and / or M&A
  • Experience developing New-Market-Entry strategies and plans
  • Experience conducting market research including competitive intelligence
  • Demonstrated ability to translate customer desires into actionable plans
  • Experience leading cross-functional project teams
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, communication capabilities and the ability to influence multiple stakeholders with competing / conflicting interests
  • Capable of organizing information succinctly and communicating to all levels of an organization
  • Experience with long term planning and road-mapping activities
  • Undergraduate degree required, Engineering preferred; MBA or post-graduate degree in business administration, finance or related field strongly preferred
  • Management consulting or Investment Banking experience with top-tier firm, or experience within a corporate development / strategy team strongly preferred
  • Up to 50% domestic and international travel required
